Jump Back Up July Day 30: I don’t reach out as often as I could/should. I’m very independent and don’t like to be a burden. But, I reached out to Lee to help me resolve dad’s tv neck loop issue. It has only been producing static for weeks and he could no longer hear the tv programmes. I’d checked everything I could think of…switching the battery, using a different plug socket, checking the microphone setting, checking all the connections were plugged in well, trying it on the stereo etc. I even asked for a replacement and that didn’t work either! 🤔🤷🏻♀️ Lee took another look at it today. After re-checking everything, and having a bit of a faff, Lee discovered that dad had turned down (what he thought was) the tv volume while the neck loop was still plugged into the tv. Effectively, because the neck loop plugs into the headphone socket, he had turned the neck loop sound off; his tv sound was still at the same level it always was. I had no idea the two volumes were separate so he certainly wouldn’t have. So, when he came back to plugging the neck loop back in, there was no sound. Turning the volume dial on the neck loop had zero effect because there was no volume on the ‘headphones’. Because there was no sound to pick up on, it produced static. His face was a picture when Lee turned the headphone volume back up and the static turned into dialogue from the tv. 😃 He said he won’t touch the sound again. His tv volume is set to 5 and the neck loop/headphone volume is set to 10; both perfect for his needs. Huzzah! 🥳 📸 my finished first ever attempt at watercolour painting
