Joyful June Day 13: I keep hearing an advert on the radio for “Titanic: The Musical” at The Lowry Theatre. The very thought of it makes me chuckle, I admit. It seems ludicrous that anyone would want to turn a dreadful event like that into musical theatre…around 1500 people, out of the 2200 people aboard, perished, for goodness sake. I’m not sure what there is to sing and dance about. But, the whole world seems to have gone musical mad…everything is being turned into a musical, these days, whether it’s a good fit, or not. When I was texting Lee about it, he started coming up with new options like “Tiananmen Square: The Musical”, “Custers Last Stand: The Musical”, “Hitler: Austrian Rhapsody” and the like. Pretty much everything we type now ends with “The Musical” tagged onto the end. 😂 Anyway, Lee picked up this cute children’s book at the Co-op book swap stand. All of the ice reminded me of the iceberg the Titanic hit, hence my “Titanic: The Musical” story. He thought I could use the images in a collage…although, to be honest, I’m not sure I could bear to cut it up. It is very sweet. 😁 In other news, the temperature in the lab reached 35° today. 🔥 We’re on the top floor so we have the heat rising from the two lower floors, as well as the sun beating down on the metal and glass building. 🫠 We have no opening windows, have to wear lab coats and obviously can’t drink in the lab. 🤦🏻♀️ As you can imagine, it’s all very uncomfortable. It looks like one of the cooling systems, on the roof, isn’t working so we have to wait for the company to come and fix it. I am so grateful that I only have Thursday to work before our trip. Hopefully, the weather will be more ‘British’ when we return. Otherwise, it might be a case of “Lab Bikinis: The Musical”. 🤣
