I am beyond grateful for the Finnair live chat agent who dealt with an issue earlier. Our ticket information was due yesterday but didn’t arrive in the post. We popped into town and went to the travel agency. The girl was able to print our hotel voucher but had to email the private transfer voucher. As for the ticket information, she couldn’t access it at all. She told us that all we’d need to do is head to the desk at the airport, with our passport, and get our boarding passes. I queried the not having any ticket information and she assured us our passport would be enough. I’ve never known that before but she knows best, right? 🤷🏻♀️ Lee told me that he had the airline’s app and would check-in 24 hours beforehand like we had to with Costa Rica. When I got up, this morning, I decided to download the app too and see whether we needed to log our next of kin, Covid info etc, like we had to for CR. Our booking reference was not valid… 🤔 That’s when I got in line for the live chat. They checked the booking reference and, indeed, it wasn’t valid. They asked for my ticket reference. I told them we didn’t have tickets and about what the travel agent had said. They, quite rightly, queried, “How do you expect to fly with no ticket?!” I asked if they could check that we did actually have tickets and they confirmed we did (😅) but that our booking reference was slightly different. The travel agent had read O as 0 and 5 as S. 🤯 The live chat agent was able to send us digital tickets via email. It’s the most worthwhile 45minutes I’ve spent on a live chat. Can you imagine if we’d just rocked up to the airport with no ticket information, as advised, and been turned away? I’d have had a massive meltdown. 🫠 I’m still shaken by it. 🫨 Thank goodness I decided to ‘manage my booking’ via the app and thank goodness for the person at Finnair. I’ll be having stern words with the travel agent. 😑
