I notice all these memes and inspirational quotes are written in the imperative ie. be x, do why, think z. The effect for me is less than positive. It oversimplifies, denies the challenge of just following such simple advice and risks making people feel like failures or alienated. Perhaps we could find a more gentle language that is more understanding of the reality and the ups and downs and start agains that human development and living is really made up of? Or perhaps it’s just me that takes issue with this
